We have made the monumental move.
We have sold our house, put all our furniture in store and headed off. Our only home is now afloat!
After 30 years in the same house the job of moving and packing was not a small one - the number of boxes was scary!
There were cars to be sold, services to be cancelled, numerous trips to the tip, furniture to be sold addresses to be changed - my to do list was endless!
At last it was done and we set off for Roanne and our floating home. Being really tired we decided to have a few days R&R on the way and stopped off in Kuala Lumpur (one of our favourite Asian cities) for a few days to recover.
Then on to the port. The boat survived the winter remarkably well - the paint only need minor touching up. We had one valve on the hot water system that froze and split the metal (amazing the power of ice). With help from the wonderful Foster we have applied a fix and are now all warm and snuggly with no leaks!
We just need to refit the water pump on the generator (when we removed the impeller to winterise it we fouind that one of the other parts was badly worn) . So hopefully Foster will get this fixed for us early next week.
We have been able to move off our nose in mooring (which involved climbing over the bow) onto the pontoon which was one boat up. So with lots of help from our fellow bargers we pulled her over - very luxurious!
Jan and Ian (Laurels cousins) arrive on Monday, so after we get the generator fixed up we will be heading off.
New blog is much better!!
ReplyDeleteWhere is the blog entry about how excited you are to see your wonderful youngest child!?
Laurel's Cousin thinks it is a good moove to have a side mooring instead of walking the plank jobbie.
ReplyDeleteSe ya tomorrow.....
