Barcelona

We had decided that we would escape the cold of Roanne and headed off to Barcelona with Debbie and Randy for a few days. After a pleasant easyjet flight we arrived at our hotel (the Hesperia Ramblas) which was right in the centre of town just off the main street - La Ramblas.

The weather whilst not hot was lovely - sunny days and temeratures around 9 degrees - about 20 degrees warmer than Roanne - when we left it was minus 14!

Barcelona is the city of Gaudi, and we thoroughy enjoyed seeing his architecture at the Sagrada Familia, the Apartment buildings and the park he developed .

4 Cats

We had coffee at the 4 Cats - the restaurant where Picasso, Dali and the writers and artists used to meet.

Food - Yum!

Our hotel was just around the corner from the main market - and of course we had to ample lots of Tapas and some of the local fare! (including a curry one night as they don't exist in France!)

The Harbour and Seafront

The weather was lovely and we did a number of walks around the harbour and seafront.

 Shops and Streets

We spent quite some time wandering the wonderful narrow streets that characterise the heart of Barcelona. Around many corners are fascinating buildings and shops

I wonder what they sell?
