After the departure of the chestnut champions we settled into a quieter January.  The weather stayed quite warm and we pottered about.
The wonderful Foster came over and helped finish the engine servicing and started on a major bit of rewiring. We had a few problems with an automatic relay not always sensing shore power when we plugged in. So after a bit of a review we decided to do a major update to the electrics - all new relays and circuit breakers, and simplifying the generator/shore power switching - not to mention replacing any wiring that Foster felt wasn't up to scratch.  All set now for another 20 years!
We decided to host a bit of a party for Australia day - Laurel made Pies, Katinka Lamingtons - all in all a great Aussie event . With lots of wine and some rousing choruses of waltzing matilda - not to mention very loud playing of "We come from a land down under", a great night was had by all!

We had been rather spoilt by the warmish weather - as it neared the end of the month we had a few snowy days and then it started to get really cold. We had about 2 weeks where it didn't get above freezing with the temperature dropping to -16 some nights.  Fortunately the boat is well insulated and we have excellent central heating - the only problem was putting your nose outside!
